I recently had the opportunity to capture a really great sushi restaurant space in Kendall, Cambridge, MA. Fuji restaurant is located in this up and coming location that is rapidly turning into one of the hottest parts of town to work, live and socialize. I had photographed another location belonging to the same group in Quincy (blog post coming soon) and I knew that this place would be just as great to photograph.
This restaurant has three main spaces and each of them offer a slightly difference experience. The first is a long corridor room with views looking out onto the street. This has a really stunning art piece running along the wall, almost the entire length of the room, and I wanted to capture this from both ends, as well as with some detailed shots to showcase the art installation for Fuji.
The main room is split into two eating areas; the bar with its signature lamps, and the main floor space. The bar is tiled and finished with a clean and slick white surface and accommodates around 14 people. The main floor space is the largest of the seating areas and again I wanted to capture a couple of views of each to show off the space and dynamic of the restaurant. One of the main features of the large room is the great lighting in the centre of the ceiling. The three iron globe lighting fixtures are standout features that I wanted to capture when photographing the restaurant.
After photographing the main rooms of the restaurant, I went back through to capture some more detailed aspects of the space. The wide room shots really demonstrate the location, but it is nice to also highlight some of the other aspects that can be found on a small scale. The lamps, table settings and other fixtures and fittings then get a chance to be photographed as well and these can be just as important as the wider restaurant images.
I finished off by capturing a selection of the sushi dishes that Fuji make. This really rounded out the shoot and meant that I was able to provide Fuji with not only room shots but a great variety of detail photos that they will be able to use in different aspects of their marketing.
Restaurant photography here in Boston and Cambridge provides some great locations and I can’t wait to capture more of them. If you have a restaurant in Boston that you would like photographed, both in terms of architectural images as well as food and details in the space then please don’t hesitate to get in touch, I would love to be able to show off your space and food. Using photography to highlight your restaurant and menu, either on your website or on other platforms, will go a long way.
Cheers,
