I had the pleasure of working with Charlie Allen Renovations to capture one of their latest projects over in Cambridge Massachusetts. This was a wonderful triple-decker home that was looking to be modernized and transformed to better reflect the needs of the owners at this stage in their lives. Charlie Allen worked with Woodworth Architects to create this new spaces.
The kitchen space on the ground level benefited from the introduction of lots more natural light resulting from changes outside, the removal of a wall that was blocking most of it. With new counters in place and new hardware on the cabinets saw a big change with some very simple but highly effective alterations.
The living spaces on the ground floor saw some of the bigger changes on this level. The installation of a work space and shelving made the maximum use out of the room available. The radiators had new life breathed into them and is somewhat of a specialty for Charlie Allen Renovations. What was once a weathered and unsightly block of metal have actually come to be really nice attention pieces to the room. The renovation of the fireplace in the ground floor space as well gave a nice elegant and clean feel to the room with the black granite surround and mantle.
Bathroom spaces are often those that as an architectural and interior photographer I’m most frequently asked to capture. The detail and care taken to rework this space here made a big difference over the prior set up and now offers a light and easy to maintain room with plenty of built in shelving units.
We ended the Cambridge residence photo session on the newly installed deck on the third floor of the apartment. The space that did not exist before has become one of the key features of the property and is the perfect location to retreat to at any time of the day, be it a morning coffee, lunchtime snack or evening bottle of wine with friends. The deck drains into underfloor guttering that means the levels below are completely protected in the event of a rainstorm.
